The Saturday Summary September 3 2022 – Sydney AFL Finals Week 3
The penultimate weekend for Sydney AFL saw the club contending for our place in 3 Grand Finals.
Heavy overnight rain in Sydney and a stiff breeze saw challenging conditions for champagne footy and it was reflected on the scoreboard.
Our Div 2 Mens came up against a spirited East Coast side looking to avenge their loss in the Qualifying Final, and they took their chances well to run out victors.
In the Prems the conditions remained challenging and stoppages were prolific. In a dour and tough affair, the contest remained very close right throughout, however North Shore kicked a little straighter on the day and ran out winners.
The Ressies charged out to drying conditions, but still a stiff breeze, slightly favouring the hill end. After a tight first quarter, our boys put the foot down in the 2nd and seemed to have a match winning lead at the half. Norths with the breeze in the 3rd made a run and we let them back within a goal, but then powered away with a 5 goal to 0 last quarter to book themselves a spot in the last weekend of the season!
