The Saturday/Sunday Summary 27/28 August 2022 – Sydney AFL Finals Week 2
A weekend to remember for our great club.
On Saturday our Masters took out their 3rd Granny in succession with a stellar win over the Southern Dingoes, surviving a late charge in a rugged encounter.
Our Mens Div 2 side went within one quarter of pulling off an ambush out at Kanebridge that will only stoke the fire.
On Sunday our Prems and Ressies both faced off against teams that finished above them as they continued to keep their September dreams alive.
The Prems were celebrating the 150th Prems game for David Lycakis and Max Jeffreys 100th club game. In a see-sawing encounter they led comfortably at stages but found themselves down by 19 just before ¾ time. The last quarter is what they have toiled for since November and they steamrolled the once almost unbeatable (for us) Sydney Uni in an epic effort.
The Ressies watching on the caught the bug and had their own steamroller quarter in the 3rd to run our comfortable victors over a Pennant Hills team that generally had their measure earlier in the season.
Next weekend the stage is set for 3 more fairy tales to be told as all 3 of our men’s senior teams vie to make their own Grannys.
