Have your say on the name of the new club house

Georges River Council is currently seeking community feedback on the name of the new sporting facility at Olds Park, the pavillion that will be our home and club house from 2027 onwards!

The Council is considering two names for the facility, and we have the opportunity to support the naming proposal that will honour the legacy of two club stalwarts, Brendan Donohue and Syd Felstead.

The two naming options that the Council has proposed are:

  • Donohue Felstead Sports Pavillion
  • St George Sports Pavillion

Brendan and Syd both made significant contributions to our club and to Olds Park throughout their tenures, that benefited not only the Dragons, but all other clubs and users. Notably, Brendan was instrumental in securing the grant funding for the new club house to be built. You can read about both Syd and Brendan’s contributions on Council’s ‘Your Say’ page.

Although the alternate proposal is our namesake, St George, it doesn’t quite capture what this place means. It doesn’t capture the heart and soul of what makes our club, it doesn’t capture the DNA.

Let’s show our support for honouring two legends of our mighty club, by providing feedback on the naming proposal before 25th November 2026.

All you have to do is click here and select ‘Donohue Felstead Sports Pavillion’ as the name you prefer.

If you would like to provide additional comments to support your feedback, we’ve provided a template below for you to use. Just remember to update your conection to the club when you copy and paste!

The Executive Committee thanks you for your support.

I am a St George Dragons AFC [player/coach/volunteer/past player/supporter] and I support the new facility at Olds Park being named in honour of two stalwarts of both our Club and the community.

Brendan Donohue and Syd Felstead have made lasting contributions that have and will continue to benefit generations of local clubs and athletes. Syd ensured our Club had a home for the past 80 years, and Brendan ensured our Club has one for the next 80.

The naming of the new sports facility is the perfect opportunity to honour the legacy of two remarkable individuals, and to acknowledge their significant contributions to the local sporting community, Olds Park and the St George Dragons.
