Dragons News | What’s happening in 2026

As we settle into the New Year, we want to highlight some of the exciting things happening at St George in the coming weeks and months.

Pre-season training is back for 2026, starting at 6:30pm at Olds Park, Monday/Thursday for Women’s and Tuesday/Thursday for Men’s.

This is your last chance to save on your 2026 rego with the early bird discount! Offer ends on January 31st, so get registered before it’s too late.

This time next week, we will be saying goodbye to our beloved club house. As the excavators move in, it marks the end of an era at St George. An era that has spanned almost 100 years.

Things will look a little different for our footy over the next year or two, but the end result will see our new home be one of the best facilities across Sydney.

A huge shout out to all of our wonderful volunteers over the weekend, including many of our committee members, that cleared out the club house, packed up trophies and flag, and set up gear and equipment in the temporary storage containers.

An exciting announcement over the weekend that Swans midfielder, Darcy Moloney, will be joining us as a women’s development coach throughout pre-season and Rounds 1 – 4.

We are grateful that the AFL has provided this opportunity, and look forward to seeing the energy Darcy will bring to St George.

Our Women’s U20 and Men’s U19.5 Induction nights are on this week, with the Women’s session up first on Wednesday 28th and the Men’s the following night on Thursday 29th.

These sessions are a valuable introduction to St George AFC, for both parents and players. Covering the transition to Senior Football, meeting our coaches, learning about opportunities available and seeing the culture of our club.

Be sure to contact St George Football Manager, Dale Widders to advise of your attendance to any of the Induction Nights.

Pre-season is stacked with our St George Academy and Juniors programs.

Try outs for the U18 Queanbeyan Cup are this Sunday at Waratah, where local juniors have the opportunity to represent St George at the U18’s Carnival in February.

Applications are also open for our St George Academy program, running in March over 3 sessions. The Academy is a development opportunity for aspiring young players, to be trained by professional players.
